John Bassadone’s boat “Peninsula” wins the race

Our marina has had the opportunity to witness what has undoubtedly been an exciting spectacle. In this latest edition of the Alcaidesa Marina J80 Circuit, “Peninsula”, skippered by Oliver Góngora, took first place on the podium.

The Gibraltarian Bassadone’s boat won the championship, followed by five points of difference by Pablo Villar’s “Alcaidesa Marina”, who came very close to the gold medal.

Both teams remained in the lead throughout the Circuit. The Peninsula squad gathered strength to face a decisive event, regaining the first place they had lost in the third round. A point ahead of ‘Alcaidesa Marina’, winner of two of the four rounds, marked the competition.

The third place was really close, as the rivalry of the teams and the strong setbacks, caused by the storm, raised the level of the competition. Thus, the teams of Javier Madrid’s “Eureka Tech” with Rafael Díaz on the helm, and Petter Fjelstad’s “Aponia” were in a fierce dispute for the bronze medal. The first day left the current Andalusian champions out of the game and out of third place, after breaking the stay in the second race. However, they managed to turn it around on the last day, which was decisive for the scoreboard.

The total score left us with the victory of ‘Península’ with 37 points.  Alcaidesa Marina’ followed with 44, and ‘Eureka Tech’ with 65, two points less than “Aponia”. They were followed by Horacio Carelli’s “Tacuarita”, with Iñaki Castañer at the helm, and the girls of “Marbella Team”, who were making their debut in their first appearance on the circuit. Both teams took fifth and sixth place respectively, with Per Roman and Pepequín Orbaneja’s ‘GP Bullhound’ one step behind them. Finally, preceding them were “Kouko” (Alejandro López), “Weirdo” (Esteban Morilla), and “Nexum Capita” (Fico Jiménez Galeote).

The Alcaidesa J80 circuit: a fierce competition marked by the wind

The days took place with a strong easterly wind of 12 knots of average intensity, reaching over 16 knots on Saturday’s leg. The waters of La Línea de la Concepción witnessed an exciting championship. On this weekend, any mistake could put the teams “out of action”. For this reason, great moments of tension and effort were experienced, adding to the joy of the winners.

Alcaidesa Marina would like to congratulate the winners and all the participants. We hope to see them again in the next edition of the Alcaidesa Marina J80 Circuit.
