We can point out some of the results we obtained during the project San Telmo:  It was the first attempt to prepare an underwater and a land archaeological survey in the Antarctic, preliminary verifying the conditions and possibilities to carry on such a project.

The wreck site was examined in order to conduct appropriately the future survey. The work site must be free from the ice during the Antarctic summer period. The area and especially the shipwreck resting place which would be affected by the future survey were examined using technological (robots, boats equipped with detection device) and human resources (divers). It was agreed on the material, its amount, the requirements, and the sites of embarkation or arrival, as well as the crew members.

Contacts with the Chilean staff of INACH, which would participate in the consequent periods of the research, were established.
