Marine debris is one of the greatest global environmental challenges that we will be facing in the next few years, as it is a problem that effects most countries to a greater or lesser extent, regardless of where the waste comes from.
Plastics, wood, metals, glass, rubber, fabrics, paper… are the main types of waste that we can find in the sea.
In order to raise public awareness of the problem, the CONAMA 2016 Marine Debris Working Group is promoting a citizens' guide to marine debris. Besides educating people about the issue, the document sets out to provide a series of recommendations that citizens should adopt to reduce the amount of waste that reaches our seas.
