Turkey-based Bilgin Yachts has launched what it claims to be ...

The yacht — aptly named the Bilgin 263 — is 80 meters long, about 262.47 feet. Bilgin states that this impressive length is what allows the yacht to be the largest of its kind in Turkey. It also claims that the 263 is the most environmentally friendly yacht in its class, in part because of the boat's clean air emissions exhaust system.

Righting moment augmentation in modern sailing yachts

In the last year, two major events in the Pacific Northwest crowned champions that sailed vessels utilizing a system of enhanced or assisted ballast—Team Angry Beaver won Race to Alaska aboard a canting-keel Schock 40; and the water-ballasted Riptide 41, Blue, topped the fleet of the biggest, fastest boats in a variety of conditions throughout the Van Isle 360.

Eight epic days

First organized by the Transpacific Yacht Club in 1906, the biennial Transpacific Yacht Race or Transpac is an offshore sailing race from Point Fermin in Los Angeles to Diamond Head, just east of Honolulu, a distance of 2225 nm. Bretwalda 3 completed the 2019 edition in 8:04:02:40 to finish third in Division 3.
