‘GVS Varaderos del Sur’ and ‘Marbella Team’ complete the podium following the four races of today in waters of the Línea
The monotype ‘Península’ confirms itself as the most solid in the premiere of the autumn series of the circuit Circuito Alcaidesa Marina de J/80 2022 by winning the first leg this weekend with five races, the coast on Saturday and four technical races windward / leeward that took place Sunday in waters of the Línea de la Concepción.
John Bassadone, boat builder and owner of the ‘Península’ has become strong facing the most difficult rivals in an overly complicated second day with incredibly open regattas strongly fought which makes them a fair winner.
Following their win on Saturday the yacht with shared flags of CN Bevelle and the Royal Gibraltar Yacht adds three firsts and discards a second to win by seven points over ‘GVS Varaderos del Sur’ belonging to Rafael Díaz (CN Bevelle/RCN de La Línea), a team that today went from strength to strength from fourth place to add a victory, a second and a fourth resolving a tie in points over ‘Marbella Team’ of boat builders María Fiestas and Pepequín Orbaneja with skipper Juan Luis Páez, which validates a third, fourth and second and ending in third.
Fourth place went to ‘Alcaidesa Marina’ with Robin Imaz as skipper, a team that was unable to maintain a place on the podium which distances them three points after adding a third yesterday, fifth and two thirds more, obligating them to discard sixth in the fourth race today and fifth the weekend.
Next is ‘Aponia Racing’ with Petter Fjelstad and Ricardo Zabell (KNS Norway), ‘Kouko’ with Moncho Carrero with flag from RCN de Algeciras, a team that incorporated in the second day with a meritorious performance which placed it ahead of ‘Tacuarita’ with Horacio Cardarelli (CN Bevelle) and the yacht from CN Río Piedras ‘Colibrí’ with Gonzalo Fernández, seventh and eight, respectively.
“It has been an overly complicated day because of the continuous roles and changes in wind intensity, with incredibly open regattas. Our result is very solid, but our rivals did not make it easy, and all races were hotly contested,” says Oliver Góngora, tactician for ‘Península.’
Only a fleet of this caliber could take advantage of the variable leeward between 6 and 8 knots of intensity to complete the four races programmed for today.
The next races will be on the weekend of November 26 and 27. The circuit Circuito Alcaidesa Marina de J/80 autumn Series 2022 has the organisation of CN Bevelle and the RCN of Línea de la Concepción, in cooperation with the Royal Gibraltar Yacht, and sponsoring from the Sports Port Alcaidesa Marina.
