Next Wednesday, August 12, 2026, Alcaidesa Marina will dress up to host an astronomical event of special relevance. We invite all astronomy enthusiasts, sailors, residents, and visitors of the region to enjoy the Observation of the Eclipse of the Sun, a solar eclipse that presents itself as a fascinating opportunity to contemplate this natural phenomenon in a privileged setting by the sea, where the Mediterranean horizon meets the history of the Strait.

The gathering will take place in our reserved space located next to the Alcaidesa Marina Port Control Tower, in La Línea de la Concepción, from 19:30 to 21:30 hours. It will be an unforgettable evening where science, astronomical observation, and culture will join hands. The event will be enlivened by a special performance by ONO, the innovative audiovisual project by Rubén Kielmannsegge and Miguel Redondo (A.K.A. Lebollet), who will offer their live show entitled «SOL/HELIO/ÁTON», a sensory experience that promises to elevate this astronomical journey.

Event details and safe glasses reservation

The safety of our attendees is the organization’s top priority. To observe the solar eclipse correctly and without vision risks, it is strictly necessary to have approved solar protection glasses. Given the high expectations generated and the limited capacity of the space, we detail below the ways to secure your participation and equipment:

  • General registration: If you wish to reserve your glasses and secure your attendance at the designated space, you can contact us via the telephone numbers (+34) 646 890 135 or (+34) 697 594 316. We would like to remind our international visitors that the telephone assistance staff speaks English, thus facilitating communication with the nautical community and tourists visiting us from various parts of Europe.
  • Exclusive advantage for Marina clients: At Alcaidesa Marina, we deeply value the loyalty of our clients and sailors. Therefore, we want to reward your trust by offering 50 completely free observation glasses. These units will be delivered on the day of the event, at the venue, upon client identification and strictly on a first-come, first-served basis until stocks last. We recommend arriving early to secure your observation kit.

A summer packed with culture and astronomy in La Línea

This event is not an isolated incident, but rather part of a broader cultural agenda that seeks to revitalize the summer in La Línea de la Concepción. From July 24 to August 13, we cordially invite you to visit the exhibition «The Universe by the Hand of Astrónomada», a photographic and informative showcase created by Jesús Arceiz García, which will be located at TPOP (C/ López de Ayala). This exhibition constitutes the perfect prelude to our great solar eclipse 2026 Gibraltar observation day, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in the beauty of the cosmos before the actual phenomenon.

From Alcaidesa Marina, we continue to move forward with our diversification strategy, betting on initiatives that bring added value both to our local community and to those who choose us as a reference nautical destination. Turning our port into a dynamic meeting point and a privileged balcony overlooking the Strait is one of our greatest commitments. If you are passionate about the world of astronomy and astrophotography, we encourage you to follow @astro_nomada on Instagram to learn about future activities and events that will continue to bring us closer to the stars.

With this consolidated infrastructure and a cultural offer that combines science and leisure, Alcaidesa Marina reaffirms its position as a strategic enclave in the Campo de Gibraltar. We look forward to seeing you on August 12 to experience this eclipse together in the best possible location!
