Total of eight ports, all members of Marinas de Andalucía, receive Blue Flag award, with Alcaidesa Marina once again on honours list.
This award certifies, among other aspects, the good state of conservation and quality of services and infrastructures at these facilities. As a result, the flag will be flying proud this summer at Marina del Este, Puerto Deportivo de Benalmádena, Puerto Deportivo de Marbella, Puerto Deportivo de Estepona, Puerto de La Duquesa, Puerto Sotogrande, Marina Isla Canela and Alcaidesa Marina.
The award ceremony took place in Roquetas de Mar, attended by dignitaries such as Juan Marín, Deputy Chairman of the Andalusian Government and Regional Minister of Tourism, and Rafael Merino, Managing Director of the Andalusian Public Port Authority (APPA).
These accolades have been granted by the EU-wide Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) and the Association of Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC) for the past thirty years or so, honouring the environmental quality of marinas. The Blue Flag is now present in more than forty-five countries and is awarded after an in-depth analysis by ADEAC technicians of the safety conditions at the facilities, the environmental and water quality, the sustainable management on offer, the services provided to users, the social integration implemented, and the awareness-raising and educational activities run by each port.
