John Bassadone’s Peninsula leads the competition

This past weekend, the Alcaidesa Marina J80 Circuit Winter Series was inaugurated; “Península”, the J80 sailboat owned by John Bassadone, won the first round of the circuit. The boat, with Oliver Góngora  at the helm, obtained four wins in six of the total number of races, on a competition that was far from easy. The easterly winds of over 20 knots kept the competition very tight, which required great concentration and skills from the participants.

The Winter Series of the Alcaidesa Marina J80 Circuit, which will run until May, involved dozens of boats with athletes of the highest level.

A podium completed by “Alcaidesa Marina” and “Eureka Tech”

The great rival of the last autumn edition once again followed Peninsula very closely.  “Alcaidesa Marina”, piloted by the Canarian Gustavo Martínez Doreste, obtained the second place in the final classification, with four more points after winning one of the races, and coming second and fourth in other two.

The third place on the podium was occupied by “Eureka Tech”, with Rafael Díaz at the helm. The reigning Andalusian champion of the class beat by two points Per Román’s “Gp Bullhound”, skippered by Juan Luis Paéz, and Petter Fjelstad’s “Aponia”, who were tied for fourth and fifth place respectively.

The ranking was closed by “Tacuarita”, owned by Horacio Cardarelli and with Iñaki Castañer in the lead, obtaining sixth position and six points behind the previous ones. Followed by two points, we can find “Kouko”, led by Dani Cuevas, and finally “Marbella Team Women”, captained by María Fiestas.
