The Algeciras Bay Port Authority has again signed up to the events to mark European Maritime Day, organising the seventh edition of "Explore your Port". After the success of its previous six editions, the Port Authority is inviting 2,100 residents to find out all about port-related activity from the sea, sail alongside the largest ships in the world, and enjoy dolphin watching in the Bay. The visits will be held on the boat chartered by the Port Authority, Jackelin, which this year will be setting sail between Monday and Friday from Algeciras (20 to 31 May) and from La Línea de la Concepción (3 to 6 June). From Monday to Thursday, the boat will leave in the late afternoon (6.30 pm), with a morning departure on Friday (11.00 am).
The Port Authority plans to open the registration period for citizens on Tuesday 14 May. To streamline registration, applications will be processed online via the link conocetupuerto.apba.es, which also has all the important information about the event. The visit is free, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. Only five places can be reserved per application. Groups cannot sign up for this activity, as there are special morning departures for them offered by the Port Authority.
In Algeciras, visitors will board from the Paseo Marítimo de Ribera del Llano Amarillo, while in La Línea departures will be from Alcaidesa Marina.
The activity organised by the Algeciras Bay Port Authority is once again part of the list of official events to commemorate European Maritime Day (https://ec.europa.eu/maritimeaffairs/maritimeday/en/events -in-europe), which besides Spain will also see the involvement of ports in Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Holland, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Sweden and the United Kingdom, among other countries. Since 2008, European Maritime Day has been held on 20 May with the aim of highlighting maritime activities and making citizens aware of the economic importance of ports.
